So if you haven’t noticed by now, I’m pretty passionate about teaching people how to have honest conversations. It’s because, whether you’re talking about coaching conversations, cross-boundary leadership conversations, senior team conversations, customer conversations, notice how many times I’m using the word conversations.
So much rises and falls on our ability to have honest and effective conversations with each other. I also care a lot about closing the candor gap because I see the negative effects it has on human health and happiness. I’ve witnessed this time and time again in my clients, and in my friends, and even in my own family.
But as you can imagine, developing people in this capability isn’t for your garden variety facilitator or coach. Because helping your leaders see what they can’t see for themselves, helping them bring about lasting changes of their behavior, and ensuring they intuitively and consistently apply what they learned at our programs to solve real-world problems takes real skill.
